Hey, Just a suggestion to help entertain the community and at the same time bring in a bit of money for NRNS....

Would it be possible for me to do a raffle for the community?  NRNS members are able to purchase raffle tickets and then at the end of the month there will be 1 lucky winner of which will receive their prize.

I am able to provide the prizes such as games and DLC for the winners. ALL THE MONEY RAISED FOR THIS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE COMMUNITY.

Would I be able to have either a yes or no from a founder or someone of that rank, and some ideas for prizes, I was thinking like GTA 5 for the NON Junior prize and im not sure what for the Junior Prize.

Anyone with NRNS tags will be able to enter this raffle and anyone with the tags can win the raffle. Depending on weather or no you’re a JNRNS or NRNS member will determine your prize. I can’t be giving out copies of GTAV to 14 year olds, SORRY xD

Raffles are great ideas to generate money.

Suggestions:

Open it to publics as well.
Use the NRNS donation page (that way handling the money is already taken care of). You can say every x dollars = 1 ticket. Optionally, participants will need to post in the topic for their donation to be converted to tickets.

Only problem with that is that the money wont be converted into tickets. People would donate and then it not get converted into tickets. Ill have a word with one of the webdevs because I know theres a plugin that handles this kinda stuff

Or you just count the money? We had this before and every 5 USD was a ticket that we counted at the end of the month.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking. Is there a way to view "last month's donations" (publicly)? Seems like we used to be able to see that but I can't find it now.

This is something that Id like to do every 2 or 3 months, not just for a 1 off.  I guess we could just count the money and issue tickets like that but I think that if we get lots of people entering the raffle there will be lots of counting, dividing by 5 and issuing tickets. Where as if there was a program which did this for us it would save time and effort. Ive spoken to one of the web Dev's and asked him to have a look into it, he said he'll let me know of any other information regarding this. Although I would need approval from a founder so DR-EVIL, if you re reading this can you slide into my message box with a yes or a no please  Thanks <3

Thought I saw one on this site... Sigh, maybe it was in a dream.

Counting wins awards for simple solution but if you want an official/computerized method a php script could work nicely. Simple version:

• Get donations page (last month's).
• Sum donations by username.
• Divide each sum by PRICE_PER_TICKET to get number of tickets for each username (round down).
• Insert/add each ticket to a 'pool' array.
• Draw a psudo-random number from a psudo-random number generator [0,1).
• Multiply psudo-random number by the length of the 'pool' array.
• The ticket at the array location pointed to by the pulled number(rounded down) is the winning ticket.

That seems pretty good if we can get it to work. It was only a suggestion though, we still need an approval from a founder though. Just though we could raise some money for the community.
