Dislaimer: I'm very biased against ATI. These days I don't even bother looking into ATI cards. I recently (past 2-3 months or so) shopped for a new NVIDIA card.If you have $250 the gtx1060 is a ridiculously good buy for the $. If you need one cheaper there's a 3gb one for ~150 but it's not quite as good. The 1060 is the lowest of the current generation and is more powerful than nearly everything from last generation. It's also cheaper than most of last generation and uses much less power (400w power supply recommended or something). ie, if you want to save money by buying the last generation you might as well get the gtx 1060. If you're looking to go further back (and are ok with used) the gtx 780-760 are cheap (I have a gtx 760 and was looking for another to SLI and they're going for about $70-100 used). But for just a few $ more you can get new and a huge increase in power ...Good luck. My recommendation. Look around, use comparison and review sites, take your time. Happy shopping.
