Windows10
« on: July 31, 2015, 06:58:56 AM »
Hey Guys curious what are your experiences with Windows10?
So far I'm liking it, Microsoft Edge Is quite fast to be honest(tho I have reverted back to chrome simply for familiarity's sake)
Cortana is much less broken than I thought it would be and in general, the system seems to be performing fast, stable and quite on the ball.
Now as far as gaming goes, I'm having some issues with BF3's ZLO launcher as in that it is crashing a LOT! But seeing how its a third party Russian hack I won't hold it against Windows lol.
In BF4 on the other hand I have had interesting results. My overall FPS seems to be a bit lower 10-15 lower on AVG, but at the same time the performance seems to be more stable IE the difference between min and max frames is not as high as I was experiencing in 7 or 8.1, By Drawing up the resource graph for battlefield perfoverlay.drawgraph 1 I noticed that my CPU and GPU usage is a lot more balanced, where in the past BF4 would weigh more heavily on my CPU. It has gotten rid of some spikes in performance I was having tho the usage Is a bit higher overall.
I want to mention that I tested using DX11 for a few Hours as DX12 is obv not supported by games at the moment. It also seems to have improved my performance while running MANTLE API, as I used to get like 20 FPS with it and now I'm in the 40+ bracket.

I have just done a wipe and a clean re install of all my drivers for Win10 so Ill post updates to it as soon as I have feedback :D. What are your experiences so far, have you? and will you upgrade?

Windows 95 and Windows 98 have "9" in name so they skip Windows 9.

So, if we want to play ZLO BF3, we shouldn't install windows 10?

I am re-installing DOS 5.0 and might add Windows 3.1 (For Work groups) as a shell.

Here's a nice guide for the ones wanting to make the jump:

about Win 10:

Information collected from Radeon Gigabyte:
owners of win 7: OEM Windows 10 does not install correctly and can block définivement the PC even before uploading Win8.
It would also seem that with a Win 7 DVD, it would happen the same problem

What do you think ?

I am using windows 10. so far its good. thing that i like is Stable perfomance. less cpu usage. I must say win 10 kernel is more enhanced that win 8.1. m not talking about win 10 features which are great. But core of it is good too.

I've got it, it has some minor bugs, for example, youtube videos sometimes lag for a bit, and things like that... When you turn on ur PC, it doesn't load so fast as on 8.1... But all in all, it's good, waiting for future updates and DX12 games :D..

CPM!!!!!!!!!! You made me cry. I wrote many dBase programs for it before I moved to a new overpowered 16 bits 8086 CPU.

Make sure you updated all your drivers with a clean install, also check for windows updates there have been a few, make sure everything is running propperly, after a driver wipe/ clean install (CPU/GPU) I didnt touch my chipset or BIOS, tho i will at some point the system just TOOK OFF!!! Utube has also updated their player, and based on some chatter from DICE on redit we might be getting DX12 in their current releases via patch, the performance increase some preliminary tests are showing is staggering :D all in all im thrilled with 10.

P.S. The guys who are gaming on win7(ur doing it wrong) get on atleast 8.1 the FPS increase will blow ur mind, 7 is quite poop for gaming
