Bitdefender and Kaspersky are my top choices. But the best AV is you. Avoid porn/"hackers" websites, do not open e-mails sent by unknown people and you'll be good.

In my opinion antivirus only make your computer and internet conection work at 80% of his capacity , i dont have antivirus since 3 or 4 years ago and i have never had any problem ... I assume that i need to format my computer each 2 or 3 years (you will have to with or without antivirus) , right now i have had without do it for 3 years and my computer works perfectly , i can ensure you that i use many programs (all of them cracked) solidworks, sketch up , autocad , multisim12.0 , matlab r2010 , catia , photosop , after effects ,sony pro vegas , audacity , magix music maker....and many, many more .

Of course you have to read what you download and what you accept on the terms of programs you have installed (i always do it) , read the comments of torrents you download where the people speak about if the file is what is supposed to be ... and the most important have a porn site of of confidence lol

I use ESET Nod 32 Smart Security. Very comfortable and easy to use. The problem with the keys can be fixed by installing a crack/patch and there you go! You have it forever :)

I have studied and developed malware ( trojans, virus, worms etc) for years and i can ensure you that there is not a AV for aboid both things, if you want avoid some hacker in your pc(using botnest, trojans) the hardest AV to avoid for us the developers  is Avira, yeah, very weird but they are experts using heuristic. And if you want just avoid adware, worms or just viruses, i recommend you Eset SS or kaspersky IS, why? yours research departments are pioneers, your databeses are inmense and if you check some day news about malware you will see that names, but when we are modding the malware its so easy hide a trojan or rootkit from them so thats not make them completly safe. Well that is my opinion but at this moment if you dont have sensitive information in your pc just use the seconds :)
