BF2 on Linux

Has anyone managed to run BF2 on.. say Ubuntu? It has a good rating on Wine, but I never managed to get DX9 installed correctly. Tried winetricks and some other methods, but it still flops.

My laptop's got Ubuntu installed only, so trying to give that a go now that I'm on holiday.

on ubuntu you hawe softwer name Wine it runs a windows Application software but wil bf2 work i dont know!

Wine and another application that might help you called em PlayonUbuntu, that's really all I can say.
I used to use Ubuntu but then just moved back to Windows.

i dont recommande that mate..i've tried it on ubunty years ago and its not perfectly stable you will face some crashes to desktop issues... try a dual install instead of that.. install a windows and linux its way better
and btw i dont know if battlelog launcher do work on linux

I managed to run it by following instructions on WineHQ, but then I couldn't run it full screen.
I dual installed Win7 and Ubuntu and tried it on Win7, but it crashes to Desktop with no message at all.
I found it strange that I can at least run on Linux, but can't on Win7.

Under 'Launching Game' There's something to do with Fullscreen and so on, try that if you haven't tried it already. Hope the link helps you out

The odd world of 24/7 Karkand: Twilight edition.

I think my problem is more that I have an integrated graphics card with 16MB of memory (min. required is 128), incompatible shaders and everything. But at least it runs on Linux and not on Windows.

Success. All I had to do is get OpenGL support and BF2Hub to play NRNS and viola.
Terrain textures are still botched up (apparently only the light map loads), but all else is fine. Except for lag with my laptop, so I can play only either really bad Sniper or a semi-good Commander.

What Linux are you running, may I ask you?
Just want to give it a go, didn't use Linux in about 5 years, need to get those Linux skills refreshed in my mind

Latest Ubuntu. Apparently the best distro for BF2. I use it as a developer workspace as well, just nice to see I can get my fav games running.
You may need to change your graphics driver from default X to proprietary.
