Intel i7 Kaby lake / Skylake Processors , Locked/unclocked

What is the actual meaning of  ''Kabylake'' , ''skylake''? Is there any difference betweek performance/speed ? I cant understand this What would be the difference between i7 7700k locked and uncloked ?. Please can someone explain this to me?

Kabylake/Skylake is the codename of the CPU. Newer name = newer version.

The K thing means it's speed is locked or unlocked.

K cpu means unlocked, which means you can overclock it.
Non K CPU, means the frequency/voltage are locked, so you can't overclock it.
