Steam summer sale 2015 details leak online; date, time - what to expect

Gamers ready to purchase a few games on Steam may want to hold off for a while because according to a report from Cinema Blend, the Steam summer sale of 2015 is about to start in just a few more days. This is based on a leaked report posted on Russian social network site VK.

According to the report, the Steam summer sale is going to be launched on Thursday, June 11. The original site post says it will begin at 8 p.m. Moscow Time, which is 1 p.m. EST. The summer sale is going to run until 1 p.m. EST on June 22.

There will also be an "Encore Sale" on June 20. This "Encore Sale" will feature massive discounts coming from all the companies participating in the summer sale from June 11.

Gamers will be given 8-hour and 24-hour discounts for select games during the annual Steam summer sale. They will be given the opportunity to vote on upcoming discounts and deals as well. People who participate by voting or purchasing discounted games are given random trading cards. These cards can then be used later on to redeem coupons, Steam emoticons, and profile backgrounds.

During the 2014 Steam summer sale, there was the "Summer Adventure" event. Users were grouped into one of five teams and each team had to collect as many cards and badges as possible. Everyday, Steam would reward 30 members of the winning team three games from their Wishlist, completely for free. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, it hasn't been confirmed if the Summer Adventure will make a return for the 2015 Steam summer sale.

Valve does have a bad history of being unable to control their Steam sale details. As cited by Cinema Blend, the details of the 2014 Steam summer sale were leaked online by Paysafecard while the 2014 Fall sale was leaked by a Paypal email. The 2013 Fall sale was also leaked on Reddit.
