I feel for you Anatares, I really do. I remember back in a time when I used to have to play on my old laptop... (Intel HD 4000 graphics which actually weren't that bad to use at times.)

I moved up to a dedicated video card laptop. The GTX 770m to be exact.
I can play COD4 maxed out at 1920x1080 now, and I can also enjoy BF3 on mid-high settings.

Whatever you choose to do with your money, or if your new PC is being given to you, I wish you the best of luck in either case.

P.S. The transition from having a framerate of around 20-40 as in your case, to having one that is around 90 - 120 (Uncapped and consistent) is a big one. It can take some time getting used to playing effectively again. At least that's what happened to me xD

Are u playing with the default cfg? I bet it is impossible that u can't get 250 super stables fps with a gtx770 :)

I actually haven't tried running the game with that much fps... I just kept the standard cap of 91 fps I think it was.
I have dealt with throttling when the CPU runs to hard (caused by either excessive heat generation or extra strain as in higher than normal FPS)

It may be able to run that well, but I'd rather my PC last.  Nothing wrong with 90 FPS at 1080p anyway. :P

It's what I've grown accustomed to, 60-90 is my ideal FPS range.

But to answer your question, I am using the default CFG, and I don't think I'll be changing anything. Stability is key in my opinion.
